Introduction

The Block Assembly Marketplace (BAM) is one of the most important upgrades arriving on Solana’s execution stack. Proposed and developed by Jito Labs, BAM reshapes how transactions are sequenced, verified, and executed, bringing new levels of privacy, transparency, and programmability to the network.

As the ecosystem enters this new phase, Luganodes is now running a BAM Validator, contributing to the rollout of the updated Jito-Solana client and supporting the early stages of this architecture.

Understanding BAM

BAM is a redesigned transaction processing system created by Jito Labs to address several long-standing challenges in Solana’s execution model.

Core Technology

BAM integrates Solana’s networking layer and scheduler into Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs).

These TEEs act as secure, encrypted “black boxes,” keeping transactions private until execution while still generating cryptographic attestations that verify the logic used inside them.

This combination enables both privacy and transparency which was something previously difficult to achieve.

Problems BAM Aims to Solve

  • Transparency: Solana’s existing block engine is closed-source, making market structure analysis difficult. BAM introduces a fully verifiable and open architecture.

  • MEV & Sandwich Attacks: Encrypted transaction ordering limits harmful MEV and makes deviations detectable through attestable logs.

  • Developer Experience: BAM simplifies the process of landing transactions reliably, a major friction point today.

  • Application Control: Current sequencing treats all transactions equally. BAM allows apps to build custom logic directly at L1.

The Plugin Layer

Plugins are BAM’s most powerful feature. Created by Jito Labs as a programmable interface for BAM Nodes, Plugins enable application-specific sequencing giving developers the ability to implement custom transaction ordering without requiring an L2 or app chain.

Plugin Examples

  • Just-in-Time Oracle Updates: Fetching the newest Pyth prices and inserting the oracle update directly before a user’s trade, enabling optimal execution.

  • Maker/Taker Priority: Giving market makers a micro “speed boost” for placing or cancelling orders, improving liquidity depth and spreads.

  • Sub-Slot TTL (Time-to-Live): Ensuring a transaction lands within extremely tight windows (e.g., 10 ms) or is dropped automatically.

These capabilities bring advanced sequencing primitives directly to Solana’s base layer.

Benefits and Ecosystem Impact

Improved User and Builder Experience

With configurable sequencing and predictable execution, BAM offers a stronger foundation for trading applications, DeFi protocols, and high-performance systems.

Institutional Adoption

Institutions gain deterministic ordering, reduced MEV exposure, and an auditable execution trail, critical requirements for high-value flow.

New Revenue Models

Applications can monetise Plugin-based features, creating potential new fee streams and contributing to a broader repricing of Solana DeFi.

Composability and Solana-Native Scaling

Unlike L2 solutions, BAM keeps activity on the main Solana L1, preserving composability while benefiting from Solana’s ongoing improvements in throughput and blockspace.

Faster Innovation

Because BAM is separate from core consensus, developers can experiment and iterate on sequencing logic without risking network stability.

Decentralisation Roadmap

Jito Labs will operate the earliest infrastructure, with a clear path toward distributing BAM Nodes and Validators globally ensuring the system evolves into a transparent, decentralised layer for block assembly.

Long-Term Vision

BAM is positioned as a critical component of Solana’s future, helping the network compete globally by enabling best-in-class execution and creating new avenues for on-chain value creation.

Luganodes x BAM

Luganodes joins the cohort of validators running the BAM client. This participation supports the network’s stability as BAM activates its new transaction pipeline, expands its operator set, and validates the attestations produced by BAM Nodes.

Our role centres around reliable infrastructure, predictable performance, and supporting decentralised block-building as BAM expands.

As a BAM Validator, Luganodes supports execution correctness, validates ordering attestations, and provides reliable infrastructure during the rollout.

Our participation reflects a commitment to advancing transparent block building and strengthening the network’s execution guarantees as adoption grows.

Conclusion

The Block Assembly Marketplace represents a major evolution in how Solana builds blocks and delivers execution quality. With its programmable Plugin layer, verifiable TEEs, and focus on privacy and transparency, BAM expands the design space for developers and prepares Solana for more sophisticated trading environments.

Luganodes is proud to support this transition in collaboration with Jito Labs and the broader Solana ecosystem, contributing to a more decentralised and high-performance future for block assembly.
